Get your Municipality to declare 2022 the Year of the Garden

Gardens bring beauty, culture, quality of life and biodiversity into our communities, which is why they are so important to cities and towns across the country. Did you know that YOU can invite your municipality to demonstrate its support for the Year of the Garden 2022, and its local gardening community?

To help you get started, here is a link to an invitation, a proclamation template and a presentation on the Year of the Garden 2022. Send this to your councilors and the mayor with an email explaining why you feel your municipality should celebrate the Year of the Garden 2022, National Garden Day and be a Garden-Friendly City.

The latest proclamations were made by the Town of Devon, AB, City of Burlington ON Town of Stonewall MB and Victoria BC.

The Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) and Garden Centres Canada have partnered with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) to offer a 2-year AgriMarketing Program, to help promote Year of the Garden 2022 by providing 50% reimbursement for marketing campaign activities occurring between April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 (year one), and April 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023 (year two) that feature Year of the Garden messaging.
